Product Description

In-line Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint

Use

Adjustment of piping, Axial deflection.
*Do not torque the bellows.

in-Line Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint

Feature

An in-line pressure balanced Expansion joint is designed to absorb axial movement and/or lateral deflection while restraining the pressure thrust by means of tie devices interconnecting the line pressure. Each bellows set is designed to absorb the axial movement and usually the line bellows will absorb the lateral deflection. This type of Expansion joint is used in a straight run of piping.
Applicable fluid: Steam, Exhaust gas, Water, Air
Applicable bellows: MF, HF
Material: SUS304, SUS316L,

Steel Types Properties and applications
SUS304 General-purpose stainless steel: Used to make general chemical equipment, food equipment and nuclear power equipment, and in construction and household supplies.
SUS304L 304 ultra-low carbon steel: More resistant to intergranular corrosion than 304. Used when heat-treatment after welding is not possible.
SUS316 Stainless steel made by adding molybdenum to 304 for improved corrosion resistance. Used in items such as ship parts.
SUS316L 316 ultra-low carbon steel: Has higher intergranular corrosion resistance. Used in areas requiring resistance to corrosion and pitting.
SUS317 Higher corrosion resistance than 316. Used to make equipment for applications such as papermaking and dyeing.
SUS317L 317 ultra-low carbon steel: Has higher intergranular corrosion resistance than 317.
SUS309S Has higher corrosion resistance than 304. Used mainly as a heat-resistant steel.
SUS310S Has higher oxidation resistance than 309. Used mainly as a heat-resistant steel.Hi
SUS321 Made by adding titanium to 304 to increase intergranular corrosion resistance.
High Nickel alloy Has very high oxidation and heat resistance. Used in corrosive and high-temperature environments.

Recommended installation instructions

  • Do not drop or strike carton.
  • Inspect for damage during shipment, i.e., Dents, broken hardware, water marks on carton, etc.
  • Store in clean dry area where it will not be exposed to heavy traffic or damaging environments.
  • Do not remove shipping bars until installation is complete.
  • Do not remove any moisture-absorbing desiccant bags or protective coatings until ready for installation.
  • Do not use hanger lugs as lifting lugs without approval of the manufacturer.
  • Do not use chains or any lifting device directly on the bellows or bellows cover.
  • Do not allow weld splatter to hit unprotected bellows. Protect with wet chloride-free insulation.
  • Do not use cleaning agents that contain chlorides.
  • Do not use steel wool or wire brushes on bellows.
  • Do not force-rotate one end of an expansion joint for alignment of bolt holes. Ordinary bellows are not capable of absorbing torque.
  • Do not hydrostatic pressure test or evacuate the system before installation of all guides and anchors.
  • Do not exceed a pressure test of 1 1/2 times the rated working pressure of the expansion joint.
  • Do not use shipping bars to retain thrust if tested prior to installation.
